In 1922, a Canadian nurse, Rene Caisse, introduced essiac to the world. Essiac is Rene’s last name spelled backward. Native American lore claims that the formula was passed down from an Ontario Ojibwa healer. It has only four ingredients. burdock root, turkey rhubarb root, sheep sorrel and slippery elm.
